I know when I visit a new RP forum, I look at the posts. (That's how I came here, and how I stayed (mostly)). If there are a lot of empty forums without a single topic, it's bad for reputation. I prefer the second one, as it would make putting information on your wolves, tracing wolf history, adding notes, dates, names, friends, etc. much easier.

It really does help with members (although I don't know why...). Every forum I've gone to that hadn't had advertisements that eventually got them usually got at least 10-20 more members in the first few months.
