Warmer climates, Colder hearts

Jay had found a cave in a mountain to spend a few days in to gather his energy again. He had been able to catch an old mountain goat that had been so close to death already that the hunt was nothing more then jumping down on the old male and snapping it's neck with ease. It had kept him fed for those few days, this place was interesting and easy to live in but again he hated the cold, the wind would whip into the cavern with such force at times that he would have to immediately flop his body onto the slate floor while pinning his ears down from the sound. It made this place seem even colder at times then the frozen forest itself. So when the wind had died down on this day he had set to climbing the rest of the way over the mountain, he lost his footing once and watched as some loose rocks tumbled down. He swallows hard to try and remove the large lump that had formed in his throat from seeing how long of a fall it was knowing that the wrong move would send him to his death so he moved even slower. Surpassing the crest he looked upon miles and miles of green pine trees, his hind starting to move from side to side as his tongue lolled out of his mouth to pant heavily. He had made it! It definitely had to be warmer down there as he didn't see any snow on this side, this was even slower goings as now he had to carefully lower his fores down to a landing of stones. A gap in his way to a clear sturdy path down, he backs up a little and takes a run for it. Leaping from the edge when he felt his paw pads touch the ledge he heard a loud shot ring out like thunder in the clear sky. It messed up his landing and he went tumbling end over end down the rocky path. Feeling the sharp stones cut into his flesh he yelps and flails trying to frantically stop his fall, finally coming to a stop by hitting a boulder with his side feeling a crack in his ribs he winces in pain. Knowing instantly he had broken a rib however he doesn't move for he had heard that sound once before, human hunters...his family had warned him of such things and had seen an aerial hunt happen to a neighboring pack once when he had been just a pup. Not knowing if their aim was intended for him or not there was no way to really know unless he stayed perfectly still for a moment. If they believed that he had been killed they would soon make their way to claim their kill.

Jay waited until night fall but no hunters came, he slowly rose feeling the broken rib move as well and it was quite painful but he made sure not to cry out. He slowly makes his way down the mountain now more careful then ever with being in the dark he couldn't easily see which rocks may or may not fall away under foot so he had to test each spot before moving forward. Taking him hours to make his way he finally reached it's base at around the middle of the night. He knew if there was any chance of surviving he had to get out of the humans hunting grounds, smelling smoke off in the distance he knew that wasn't the most wise way to venture so he headed now in a more west ward direction however still headed south to find the warmer climates he so desired. Walking with something of a limp to try not to irritate the broken rib anymore then he already had. He wondered how Moonlight was doing and hoped that she was fairing better then he was at the moment, having found nothing but trouble every time he had moved away from her. He sighs realizing that his choice apparently hadn't been the best, living the life of a lone wolf was more dangerous then he had anticipated. He pauses catching a wisp of human scent, his fore almost coming down on a pile of leaves that now as he looked at them more carefully seemed out of place he went over picked up a stick then dropped it. SNAP the twig broke in half as a bear traps nasty metal teeth sprung around it. His heart raced in his chest as he swallowed hard, that had almost been his fore. He whimpers softly his movements now growing even slower, taking a stick up in his mouth to poke at the spots where he was going to step. There was no way he'd make it through before dawn and he just prayed that the bi-peds wouldn't find him and make him their next prey.

Shade Was at the mountain as she heard a SNAP a growl became upon her lips looking up seeing a male wolf she was not hurt at all but she stopped growling seeing what the wolf was doing "Hey I really need you to pay attetion to were you are going ok? some rocks fall but if you need anything just call me Shade or howl fo me if you loose me" she says and looks at the brute with scale eyes she allmost got another growl again but she decides to come up to the male and help him out but she sees the male was hurt "Do you need help?" she askes with a whine worried about the male

Jay jumped slightly backwards as the other wolf growled at him, he hadn't been paying attention to anything but poking at the ground to make sure he didn't stumble across another bear trap. Instead he had seemed to come across something less deadlier then a human but just as fatal if he wasn't careful. His ears went back to lay flat on his skull and his butt scooted closer to his hinds, if he had a tail it would be touching his chest by now but that was the worst part about having lost it it was the most important thing to indicate his intentions and he knew that he could get into trouble quick so even though his head dipped low to show his respect his golden star burst like eyes remain fixated on the femme in front of him. When she moved closer to him he instinctively backed away from her, when she asked if he needed help he shook his apex quickly to indicate that he didn't need her help. He didn't want it from such a scary wolf, if a fight started though he was ready to hold his ground and getting a little bit of courage he barks at her. "I don't need anybody's help." he snorts, his thoughts went to that she wanted something from him. As to what he wasn't quite sure yet but he wasn't having it, he was a loner now and he had to learn to fend for himself. He moves to go past her pushing his stick towards the ground searching for bear traps again but keeping a close eye on the stranger who had just been really weird, first threatening then offering up help he honestly didn't know what to make of her.

Shade looks at the male "I'm relly sorry for growling at you thougt you were some bear that wanted to hurt me also ok if you dont need help be carefull once you reach the end of the moutain some loose rocks well give you a fall" she whines ten she went down the mountain at the end of it she was very very careful hen looked up at the male makeing sure he wont have harm near him then she looks away and lays down near the mountain to the side awaiting for the male to come down.

Jay purposefully jumped on the sliding rocks and rode them down, jumping from one to the other before landing in front of the femme. He quirks a brow like 'Oh yeah I'm the wolf' before giving his head something of a jerk upwards as he showed off prancing forward. His tail would've been wagging proudly behind him instead it looked like he was swinging his hips instead and looked quite awkward on the brute. He turns his nape back to look at the wolf curious as to if she would follow him, he didn't know what it was but he seemed popular with other lone wolves but he figured that was because they were interested in company and for some reason when one wasn't looking for company it found them whether they liked it or not. He was rather impartial about company, it wouldn't bother him if she did but he wouldn't care either way.

Jay getting bored with waiting around to find out what the other wolf would do ventured forward. Still planting the stick down in front of him to feel for bear traps, he discovered few more before it seemed he was rather clear of that area. He tossed the stick but was more on edge then ever, keeping himself lower to the ground and his senses all the more alert to any sort of danger as he continued. Looking around he didn't see much of any kind of wildlife, it seemed rather barren as though those who were smart did not venture here. However he was never one for his brilliance and he needed to move south, he felt the cold following him it was starting to get colder and colder in these lands as well. Following the warmth he moved to where he could only guess that his last pack had gone, following herds of elk however his only wish was to find warmer climates.

he said: Hey there ... (as he carefully observed the wolf he sees it as injured)
he ask in concerned manner: what happened to you? well I could help you.....hmmm if you don't want to, well ...you'll have a hard-time surviving here ... and there are many traps and hunters here you know....
a badly injured wolf is a dead wolf out here so you'll need some help...
