He wasn't sure how he got here, he wasn't sure how long he'd been here. All he could see, was the mist. All he could hear was the occasional eerie calls of birds that seemed to echo through his soul. The fog was so thick he could taste the water vapor that hung in the air. He'd been walking for who knows how long, towards a goal he didn't know. Just a mindless repetitiousness. All he could think to do is keep walking, one paw after another. Each foot step a gentle thud, occasionally a leaf caught underfoot. Thud, thud, thud, crunch, thud, thud, thud. His eyes drooped as he looked forward into the white blur of trees and shrubs. The whole world seemed at peace, yet still there was that growing sense of insecurity and fear. Nothing should be this quiet. I was as if the world had dropped off into an alternate world, leaving him abandoned in his own mind. He knew that it couldn't be a reflection of his mind. His mind was too chaotic and twisted. This was a serene state of torment. Each quiet bird call growing faint just moment after they echoed in his ears. he felt a numbness of sorts as the dull thump of his paws shook his fur with each step, at last he could forget everything... but, what was there to forget? He could only remember his name and his purpose. Survive. that was all that remained. His instinct to carry on living.

Maybe he was done living here, he could just keep walking until he walked off the edges of the earth. Maybe then he would live in peace. floating among his own anxieties and dementia. A sharp twig snapped leaving an echo, and a thin wound was left in his shoulder, but It went unfelt, unnoticed, untended. He'd been numb in that side for years. When he tripped on a stone in the ground, he didn't feel it until he was on his side on the ground. And as he forced himself up only three words echoed in his head. Just keep going.

His footfall was the only sound among the occasional bird call, and the mist. Thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, crunch.

Nekoda was padding through the forest, the fog-like mist coating the ground so much that she couldn't even see the ground beneath her. For all she knew, she could step on a snake at any moment! But, in reality, she didn't care. She was tired, she was hungry since she hadn't seen hunt for a few days, and a wound on her leg shoulder stung with the possibility of infection. She had a slight limp to her step as she continued through the forest, not having a real destination. Thoughts ran through her head at a million miles an hour, yet she wasn't thinking at all. She tried to focus her jumbled thoughts onto the sound of her walking on the dampened ground, but she couldn't even do that. The mist rose up as she went deeper into the woods, coating the whole area until she couldn't even see past a few feet in front of her. She stumbled multiple times over things she had no clue were there, and she still didn't know what they were. She glanced up, hoping to see the moon, but all she could see was the mist. She felt as though she was drowning in it, and she felt very claustrophobic. Not a good combination. In the distance, she heard a twig snap and a bird call. Her ears flicked to hear the direction of which the twig snap came from. She turned and started towards it. For once, her mind focused on one thing and she was able to be distracted from the claustrophobic feeling that was racing through her body.

A large dark form was walking through the mist as she got close to the twig snap's original spot. It looked a lot like a wolf.... but she couldn't quite tell. She listened to the footsteps and heard the steady rhythm of a wolf, and the same padding versus claws sound. Her head tilted. What was another wolf doing in here? Were they lost? Or is there really no way out of here once you're in? She tried to step closer in order to get a better look, and a twig snapped under her foot. She froze, her blue eyes cutting through the mist to watch the wolf's reaction.
